Why are regular medical eye examinations important to us all
Eye disease can strike at any age. Many eye diseases do not cause symptoms until the disease has progressed and even caused permanent damage. Since most blindness is preventable, if diagnosed and treated early, regular medical examinations by an ophthalmologist are very important. Why an ophthalmologist? Because an ophthalmologist (MD) provides TOTAL eye care, i.e, medical, surgical and optical. A medical doctor is able to consider the patient’s medical history, their current medical condition, and any associated eye problems to arrive at the specific diagnosis and the optimum treatment to correct the issue.
